Authorized Inspector – An individual holding a valid National Board Authorized Inspector Commission (AI) and designated as such by an Authorized Inspection Agency (AIA).

AIA

An Authorized Inspection Agency (AIA) is an organization meeting the criteria of the current ASME QAI-1 and is accredited by ASME pursuant to the provisions set forth in ASME QAI-1 to provide AIA services within a jurisdiction. Such agencies employ Authorized Inspectors and Inspector Supervisors that meet the criteria of ASME QAI-1 and of the National Board Rules for Commissioned Inspectors RCI-1/NB-263.
