Description:

Quick introduction to EN 13480. Starting with the essential contents and requirements regarding design, material, NDE and testing up to the hydrostatic pressure test, the selection of the right fittings and the use of American common materials (e.g. SA-106 Gr. B) or special materials (e.g. SA-355 P91) is also discussed in detail. The application with regard to the PED 2014/68/EU is also addressed in depth.

The seminar language is English.

Overview of the topics:

  • Blue Guide, 2014/68/EU, current developments, short overview

  • Free choice of technical rules: EN13480, explanation of major issues and requirements regarding design

  • Material aspects based on 2014/68/EU and EN13480

  • Handling American materials using detailed practical examples (ordinary material (SA-106 Gr.B) – and less often used material (SA-335 P91))

  • Practical design of pipelines under EN 13480, details on test scopes, NDE, hydrostatic tests

  • Short introduction on appurtenances

  • Final discussion

Dr. Dirk KoelblUwe Sprengholz became involved in the development and application of FE analysis programs at an early stage in his professional career. He still closely cooperates with companies offering software for the calculation of pressure equipment. He started as a design engineer and head of the quality department at a well-known pressure vessel manufacturer before changing to the steam and pressure equipment sector at TÜV Thüringen e.V. in 2000. Since 2002 he has been the TÜV Thüringen e.V. representative on the design calculation committee at VdTÜV working on improving the AD2000 standard, chairing this committee for a long time. Today he is responsible for the PED business of TÜV Thüringen e.V. in Italy and holds the position of technical supervisor for the inspection of pressure equipment designated for export.
