Description:

The important things you need to know about NDE. The participants will learn the basics about the NDE Methods (RT, CR, DR, UT, PAUT, TOFD, FMC, MT, PT, VT) and the required content of NDE procedures according to ASME Code Section V. The question will be answered on how to achieve and meet the ASME NDE personnel qualification requirements by incorporation of existing ISO 9712 qualifications.
As far as practical the acceptance criteria of the ASME Codes Section I, III, VIII-1, VIII-2, IX, B31.1, B31.3, B16.34 will be summarized and condensed so that the participants gain good working knowledge on how to interpret indications revealed by the applied NDE method.

The seminar language is English.

Key points of the seminar:

  • discussing specific NDE techniques in the NDE methods

  • description of the examination processes in RT, UT, PAUT, TOFD, FMC, MT, PT, VT

  • description of the interpretation and evaluation of indications depending on the ASME Construction Code applied (ASME Section VIII Div. 1 & 2, Section I, Section IV, etc.)

  • Manufacturer's duties and responsibilities with respect to application of NDE

  • final documentation required for the performed nondestructive examination

  • determining the specific needs of the employer regarding the NDE personnel qualification levels depending on the NDE methods applied at the manufacturing facilities

  • Explaining the difference between a Certificate of Competence and the Certification according to the employers Written Practice

  • Employers Written Practice pitfalls with respect the ASME Section V requirements of Article1, Mandatory Appendix II and III

Dr. Dirk KoelblMarcel Meronk is an experienced ASME Authorized Nuclear Inspector Supervisor at CIS GmbH and has provided consulting services and performed third party inspections of boilers, pressure vessels as well as nuclear facilities since 2006. He started his career in technical inspections at the TÜV Nord Group and specialized in the ASME Code business while working for One/TÜV/BV. His qualifications include certifications as welding engineer, as certified welding inspector and certificates in the NDT test methods RT, MT, PT and VT. Marcel Meronk is a ASME certified Instructor and has many years of experience in conducting public and customer-specific seminars on a wide range of ASME related topics as well as other international Codes and Standards.
